1- Hello, thanks for answering our questions. What are you guys currently up to?
Hi! We are rehearsing, translating the lyrics of the songs that have been recorded in Russian into English. We are also going to shoot a music video and give some concerts around Ukraine. We are quite inspired and feel a lot of energy to work on the new material.

2- First off, could you tell us some history of the band?
The history of the band started in autumn 2008, when members of the band called Maska Loki decided to disembody the band and create a new project. The membership was completed with new people and the band was named Defiant. The birthday of the band is 23th of October 2008. During the whole existence of the project, its members were constantly changing. The band plays melodic heavy-power metal with an active use of elements from other genres. The members of the band are not afraid of experiments and are constantly searching for the new musical ideas. The subjects of the songs are quite diverse. In the process of developing the group stepped away from the fantasy-mythological themes, which are traditional for power metal, shifting the focus to social themes.

3- How would you describe your sound?
The harmonic combination of creative energy and melody. There is much more energy on this release, and no less melody, that’s for sure.

 
4- What are the band’s main musical influences?
We can’t distinguish the main ones. The sources of inspiration were always constantly changing. To mention some of the bands that have inspired us – Helloween, Stratovarius, Symphony X, Kamelot, Nightwish, Rage

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?
We have no statistics or anything, but the feedback from our Ukrainian friends-musicians is positive, Funeral Feast and Jericho are the favorite ones quite often.

6- And are you personally satisfied with the final outcome?
We are satisfied as much as it is possible. Of course it could be better, we have an understanding that it’s not the limit, there is a long way of development ahead of us.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?
Power, saturation, inspiration.

8- How has the production process for your new release been?
Production of the release is over, and now the label Ferrrum Records is printing the CDs for the American and German promoters.

 
9- And how do you work on the songwriting?
Andrew creates the riffs and melodies, makes some kind of base, which is given to other members to work with their parts. He also writes lyrics, which are later translated into English. We bring the songs to the final form mutually.

 
10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?
Not to rest on our laurels, that’s for sure. There are reissues of the old material in the nearest future, with the new membership and English, then Ukrainian tour, Eastern European tour, then next release… Our goal is to take our art out of the Ukraine, to gain a worldwide recognition.
