1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?
We just finished our first album, Bedlam, and we are incredibly happy with the results! Joel Grind handled mixing and mastering and we are looking forward to its release in January of 2016. As always, we are also staying active in our local scene by going to shows and playing a few one off gigs ourselves. Along with the album we have some awesome new merch on the way and plan on getting back out on the road to play some new material in new locations at the start of 2016.

2- First off, could you tell us about band’s history?
(Joseph) I met Brandon through the local classifieds and we began by jamming on a few classic thrash songs we both knew. Before we knew it, we had some crushing original material written and started seeking out a bassist and vocalist.  Aaron soon completed the fold and we got our first demo recorded in August 2014, and a split soon followed in January 2015. Pretty much all of our time in between has been spent on the road or working the Raleigh scene. We finished writing this past spring, and began tracking our album Bedlam in May. Recording ended around July and we have been working through wrapping up some mixing/mastering details, art decisions and things like that, and now we are very excited that it is complete and ready for release in January. Queens of Steel readers can actually go ahead and check out our first single “The Hellwraith” here: https://suppressivefire.bandcamp.com/track/the-hellwraith or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSMjvxD8bZk

3- How could you describe your sound?
We are a blend of old school thrash and death metal. There is a ton of double bass drumming, blast beats, crunchy riffs, dirty bass guitar, and zero clean singing, all presented in a nonstop aggressive fashion.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?
Carcass, Exodus, Sodom, Kreator, Death, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Nuclear Assault, and many more.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?
It has been fantastic so far! The fact that other people are enjoying it is great, but we are also very satisfied with it ourselves. We feel that we really knocked this album out of the park, and absolutely cannot wait for it to drop. This is an album with no filler and is a great representation of who we are and what we do. We think our fans will really enjoy it, and look forward to new people hearing it and coming onboard for the upcoming onslaught of Suppressive Fire.

6- And are you personally satisfied with the final outcome?
SF_Promo_AlbumAbsolutely! We played very well together in the studio, and Joel Grind did an excellent job with the mix. We feel like it is an excellent representation of Suppressive Fire as a band.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?
Bedlam is here!

8- How has the production process for your new release been?
(Joseph Bursey) It went very smoothly. We met back up with Greg Klaiber who was the recording engineer for our demo and split, so we were already pretty used to working with him.  We tracked everything but the lead guitars at his studio in Durham, North Carolina and I tracked the lead guitars at home. After that, we waited for Joel to finish up some Toxic Holocaust touring and let him take care of the mixing and mastering process.  Recording this album was a ton of fun as we pretty much knew what we wanted at this point and it was great to play with several guitar tones and mix and match.  Oh and gang vocals, we finally did the thrash thing and added some of those to a few of the new tracks.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?
We have a variety of approaches to the writing process. Sometimes one of us will bring in completed ideas to share, and other times we will actually just bring in a few thoughts and work it into a complete song over a few practice sessions. Joseph also likes to hum/scat guitar riffs into his voice recorder on his phone for us to decode and turn into music.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?
Our album Bedlam comes out January 14th and we will follow that up with more touring! This time we head south, and we have some local gigs peppered in just for fun. We also have some awesome new merch that we have not revealed yet, so keep an eye out for that here: https://suppressivefire.bandcamp.com/

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
