1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

We have been working on getting Sorrow and Skin out and we have some big shows coming up, specifically one with Morbid Angel in Boston on November 10th. We are also working on a new round of merch that will include shot glasses, koozies, customized weapon clips, and panties for our abundant female following.

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?

Scalpel formed in 2008 at the hands of Manny Egbert and Taylor Brennan, who are now the only remaining founding members. We share a vision of creating truly sickening music devoid of restrictions and metronomes.

3- How could you describe your sound?

Scalpel sounds like a reinvention of old school death and grind sounds with a fresh perspective and elements of certain types of music that you may not expect.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?

Well, Creedence, of course, and then Suffocation, Carcass, Napalm Death, Death, and Gorgasm.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?

People are really enjoying the album so far. We have made a lot of new fans from the album streaming online and have pleasantly surprised a lot of reviewers who were unprepared for what they heard.

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?

While there is always room for improvement, I am very satisfied with the album, the music in particular over all other aspects.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?

Vomit Inducing Deathgrind

8- How has the production process for your new release been?

Well we were able to write and record the album quite easily but the release process has been an ultimate clusterfuck. We have had the same producer for years now and our recording and writing process has become more of a reflex than an effort at this point.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?

The songwriting process sets in much like an attack of diarrhea; an idea will hit Manny or Taylor, and it goes from there. The song starts usually in the form of death metal scatting (fa na na flum flum) and we finish each other’s song ideas and hash out the rest at practice.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?

Our near future plans include getting new merch, touring to support Sorrow and Skin, and writing new material for the next album. We have a music video for our single “Brooding in the Gloom” coming out in the next 8 months so be on the lookout for that.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

Stay Sick Motherfuckers.
