– Hi, thanks for your time. What’s currently going on with RIBSPREADER?

We just released a rather fat 2cd and besides that we are not doing much. Perhaps slowly thinking about the next album, and what The Cleaner and Mr Filth will be doing on that album.

– You have recently unleashed a really special album entitled “The Kult of Pneumatic Killrod”. Are you satisfied with the result you’ve got? And how is its feedback being so far?

Yes we are satisfied, most of us anyways haha! And so far the feedback has been very good, people seem to like the new stuff and also appreciate that they get most of the old releases aswell.

– With this effort you are celebrating the band’s 10th anniversary. How do you think has the band evolved since “Bolted to the Cross” came out?

I think weve continued doing just what we did then, simple and brutal yet very catchy death metal. We don’t wanna evolve at all really, we just wanna do some fun music and that’s it.

– This new record features the “Vicar Mortis” and “The Monolith” EP. Why did you decide to give them a second chance?

Vicar Mortis and The Monolith were only released on vinyl, so we thought itd be cool for people to have it on cd perhaps.

– You have also included a MCD entitled “Serenity in Obscenity”. How did you come up of the idea of finally publishing it? Do you have any other unreleased material?

The thing with this 2cd release is to collect all Ribspreader material, besides the latest two albums wich VIC Records released. So people can feel that if they like RIbspreader they can get this release and have almost all our old stuff and also lots of unreleased stuff that they haven’t run into before.

– This effort also contains your first two albums, now re-mastered by yourself. Was this re-master the reason why you wanted to include these opus? And how could you say differ to the original versions?

This is wrong, a misunderstanding I guess. The albums are still in theor original matsering by Dan Swanö.

– There is also the new album, “The Kult of Pneumatic Killrod” itself, which I personally think sounds 100% RIBSPREADER but, what could you say are the main differences between this new CD and your previous “The Van Murders”?

New songs done by me and the drummer, and guested by a lead guitarist. We had them laying around and they ended up on here, so it’s a bit different from the previous Ribspreader albums both musically and lyrically, but on the next album the story from The Van Murders will continue again.

– And how could you describe your latest offering in just 3 words?

Death metal ofcorpse!

– The artwork for this release has been crafted by the Spanish artist Juanjo Castellano. How did you hook up with him and why did you choose him?

Ive known Juanjo for quite a while, and this artwork was actually done back in 2005 when we first was to release the songs that were to be the Serenity in obscenity release. So its been waiting all these years and finally its used.

– Finally, what are your near-future plans?

None really haha. Just to hope that the album does cool, and then maybe slowly start on the next one.

– That’s all, thank you once more for answering our questions. If you want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

Thanx for the interview!
