– Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you currently up to?
Hey!! at the time there are lots of interviews being done, and som gigs being planned.
– First off, if you don’t mind (ass I guess there may be some people who is not familiar with you yet), I would like you to start with some history of DERIDE
deride was started by ole and kjetil in 1995 and released two albums before taking a break from the band up until now.
– And why did you pick the name «Deride»? Both its origin and meaning.
Deride means to moch or to laugh at. its a anti religious thing. and its short and catchy.
– In your music you have always mixed different music styles as Thrash or Death Metal, and from different periods but, what could you say have been the most influential bands to build up the DERIDE’s sound?
its a lot of bands there.. but for me its bands like Sepultura, pantera and testament.
– You will soon release your third album «The Void”. What do you want to express with the record’s title?

– This effort sees the light after some years of hiatus. What has happened to the band since your previous “First Round Knockout” came out? What have you been up to?
the band had a long break. so we have been doing different things both musical and non musical.
– In fact it has been a while since that album hit the street so, how could you say has been both your and the band’s evolution since then?
were older. 😉
– And what are the main differences between “The Void” and “First Round Knockout”?
two different singers.. and a more modern sound.
– With this opus you have some new members. What prompted these line-up changes and what have the new guys brought to DERIDE? Have they given both you and the band’s sound renewed energy?
well time changes and so do people. the new guys brought a lot of new influences and energy. and beer..
– And considering these changes; did something change on the songwriting process?
not really.. its all worked out in rehearsal space.
– This being said I think this time around you have shown a really mature songwriting; full of different details, trying some new things and is, overall really versatile. Was this variety something you strived for?
on this one it came natural.
– This new “The Void” is full of contrasts: an old school approach/way of playing yet with a modern sound, its also catchy but aggressive… Is this something important DERIDE?
I’ve always thought some twists and contrasts help highlighting the different elements on your music aggressiveness is wery important! its what drives the live shows..
– All in all, I feel this is your most mature offering so far, like you are feeling more comfortable doing your own thing. Is this the actual DERIDE’s sound or is there always room for evolution and keep on improving?
i think threes always room for improvement at to be trying new things. and that comes natural for us.
– This has been your first release with Massacre Records. How did you hook up with them and how could you say is everything going thus far? Do you think you would bring DERIDE to the next level with their support?
we were looking for a deal for some time and Massacre was just waft we needed. and they have been great so far! so every thing is possible from this point.
– All this being said about the new album; how could you describe “The Void” in just 3 words?

– Finally, what are the near-future plans for DERIDE?
gigs and new songs.
