1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

Stoked to be having a chat, currently besides trying to appear thoughtful through syllables we are preparing for our first European tour beginning on March 19 in support of Hirax. The reality of that currently is a lot of emails, sets of guitar strings, drum sticks and long work hours so we can afford to eat during the day as well as night on the road haha

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?

Desecrator began some time during 2008 in Melbourne, Australia after I had been overseas watching bands like Death Angel and Overkill and having semi drunken ‘lightbulb’ moments of life clarity filling me with purpose and vision. Since then we have released one live album ‘Live til Death’ which we were lucky enough to work with acclaimed metal producer Harris Johns from Germany, an LP ‘Down To Hell’ and and played with a host of amazing bands all around the country like Havok, Sepultura, In Flames and Forbidden just to name a few.

3- How could you describe your sound?

Pure un-adulted Aussie Thrash Metal, a forward sounding backwards movement if you will.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?

Obviously being such a throw back sounding band we draw heavily from the forefathers of our genre. Bay Area bands like Death Angel, Forbidden, Metallica. Opposite coast bands like Anthrax and Nuclear Assault. German stalwarts like Destruction, Sodom, Exumer, the list can go forever and does depend on the release. There’s a lot of Violator on the first album, a lot of ‘and justice for all’ on the LP and even some The Crown creeping into our brand new single ‘Red Steel’.

5- How is the feedback for your new film clip being?

Killer so far. It seems to have really captured what a night with Desecrator is all about and how much of a rad time we have onstage together and with a great crowd. People seem to be really digging the track and the visual of the clip together so really it can’t have gone better.,

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?

I think as a musician, especially in a rather physical and demanding style of music you always strive for more and always want to push past the next point, but being able to realize the line that shouldn’t be crossed and keep the integrity of the song in focus over the desire to conquer the next hill in musical dexterity gives you the space to sit back and enjoy the satisfaction of what you have created. So from that perspective yeah, we are happy and we can’t wait to do more.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?

Aussie Thrash Atack!!

8- How has the production process for your new release been?

Production doesn’t play a huge part in Desecrator songwriting, it normally occurs when the material is in the still organic rehearsal room stage of writing, the simplest way to put it is if you aren’t making a mongrel face at another member whilst trying to smash out the riff then it probably isn’t done or isn’t the right riff.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?

Songwriting usually all astarts from my guitar, I think that since thrash metal is such a guitar based style that that’s where the conception is, generally then I will hash out the possbilities of the song with Jared (drummer) and we will take the song to a point where it has a fairly final arrangement and structure. From there we work on the guitar layers and bass, scrap every idea over 100 times, argue slightly, go from impressed to depressed a bunch of times and finally emerge with a new fast, raw and energetic Desecrator song.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?

Well as mentioned we are about to embark on our first visit to European shores in mid March until mid April then I think we will return to Australia to nurse our wounds and our wallets whilst focusing on new material and what will be our first studio album. By the third quarter of next year we hope to reappear to the world armed with some killer material ready to do it all again.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

It’s been our pleasure, it’s simple, listen to metal, get involved in live music, spread what you like and leave what you don’t and most importantly, thrash til death.
