1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

(Edu) Hi, thanks for the interview. We’re touring since January 2014 promoting our newest album “The Art of Vengeance”. Our plan is to keep touring (and promoting this album) for two years, so we’ll go on touring until late next year. This year we did 100 gigs where we’ve reached Europe and South America. We had our first US tour booked for April, with MASTER, but we couldn’t get the visas to do it. Hopefully we’ll be able to get those visas for next year and finally tour the US for the first time.

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?

(Edu) The band started back in September 1996. We’ve released 3 demo-tapes (“NervoChaos” in 1996, “Disfigured Christ” in 2000 and “Necro Satanic Cult” in 2004), 7 albums (“Pay Back Time” in 1998, “Legion of Spirits Infernal” in 2002, “Quarrel in Hell” in 2006, “Battalions of Hate” in 2010, “Live Rituals” in 2011, “To The Death” in 2012 and “The Art of Vengeance” in 2014) and 3 DVDs (“17 Years of Chaos” in 2013, “Warriors on the Road” in 2013 and “Warriors on the Road 2” in 2014). We’ve been touring constantly since 96 and we’ve shared the stage with acts such as Venom, Possessed, Cannibal Corpse, Dismember, D.R.I., Krisiun, Centurian, ABSU, Malevolent Creation, Kreator, Agnostic Front, Vulcano, Headhunter DC and many more to list. We’re a four piece band but we had several line-up changes along these years, but our line-up is steady for almost five years now.

3- How could you describe your sound?

(Edu) We’re an underground band that plays extreme music. We’re a METAL band with a PUNK/HC mentality. You can easily hear some Thrash Metal influences but as well some traditional Death Metal and Black Metal as well. There are also HC and Crossover influences in our music. Our lyrics are about the occult, Satanism and the harsh reality of our daily lifes.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?

(Edu) We have several influences from the classic METAL bands such as BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST to bands such as METALLICA, SLAYER, POSSESSED, VENOM, CELTIC FROST, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL, DISCHARGE, EXPLOITED, GBH, DRI, RATOS DE PORAO, SEPULTURA and goes on.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?

(Edu) So far it has been excellent. I think we manage to evolve as a band on this album. We have more variations on the tracks with heavier tracks, faster tracks and mid-tempo tracks. Also it was the first time we’ve worked with a producer (Alex Azzali) and we’re very happy with the outcome. It’s 11 new tracks and 1 cover version of Headhunter DC song “Lightless”.

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?

(Edu) Yes, very much. I think it’s our best album up to date. The whole album is strong and we’re very happy with the new songs, the artwork of the album and mainly the sound. I think our lyrics evolved as well, so we have nothing to complain about it.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?

(Edu) Metal. Aggressive. Bold.

8- How has the production process for your new release been?

(Edu) It was awesome and new for us, once we’ve worked for the first time with a producer, Alex Azzali. We’ve travelled to Rio de Janeiro, where we’ve stayed for 15 days recording the album. Alex took the recordings to Europe (Italy) for mixing and mastering. The album prior to the new one, “To The Death”, we also recorded in Rio de Janeiro but without a producer, only having it mixed and mastered in Europe. We plan to repeat this ‘formula’ once we’re very happy with the whole album.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?

(Edu) Usually we jam during practice until we have the songs. After that, we work on the lyrics and vocal lines. Our songwriting process is the same since our first album. Each member brings some ideas or riffs to the studio, where we jam and decide what’s good and what’s not. We always do everything before entering the studio to record.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?

(Edu) We will continue touring strong with this new album until late next year. For next year we want to re-release our first and second album, which are out of catalogue for a couple of years now. Also, we want to do a few split 7”LPs and some more video clips as well. We have scheduled a US tour for March 2015, so I hope we can manage to get our visas issued this time.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

(Edu) Thanks a lot for your interview and for the support. Keep up the good work and see you on the road soon. Visit www.nervochaos.com.br for more info on the band. Also www.greyhazerecords.com
