1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

Thanks to you for the interest in our band, curses to every curious reader of Queens of Steel!. Our actual lineup is:

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?

Unaussprechlichen Kulten was formed as a band in early 2000 in Santiago, Chile. Since the beginning, all of this wasn`t just about making “music” It rather was about creating a formula were the artistic expression could be mixed along with the exploration for the darkest side of life; obeying a “cause” whispered by “The ancient ones”, all directly connected to Lovecraft’s “literary” figures used in his own work. So far we are a very unknown band out of Chile, we have been into the deep underground always, and I think always be so because our style. We have 3 albums, 2 vinyls 7 inches and some splits, this year 2014 we will do our second European tour. In the past we had the opportunity to share the stage with IMMOLATION, MORTEM, GRAVE, AFTER DEATH among many other bands. We are obsessed by ideology and the concept behind «The Band», so for many people we are a ridiculous band, freak and absurd, which really is because our «art» is not just music. We belong to the Chilean generation of 2000, all our recordings were performed on DM6 Studio (the birthplace of the Chilean underground Metal!), and much remains to be done.

3- How could you describe your sound?

The sound is completely «actual» and not try to seem «old school», nothing is forced, what you hear on the recordings is the same you can listen in our rehearsal room or live performances, the heaviest possible that our equipment are able to reproduce. «Timeless Death Metal»

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?

A lot of influences, you know mainly 80-90. Classic Swedish/Finnish, American and South American Death Metal. Bands: INCANTATION, NECRODEATH, INCUBIS, GORGUTS, SHUB NIGGURATH, IMMOLATION, NECRODEATH, PENTAGRAM (Chile), MORBID ANGEL (old), MORTA SKULD, DISMEMBER, The almighty SADISTIC INTENT, DEMIGOD (old), MORTEM, and of course SLAYER (old), MERCYFUL FATE,SEPULTURA (old) SACRIFICE, even the old METALLICA.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?

So far very good reviews.

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?

Overall I’m pretty satisfied, of course if you come back to hear the job done, you’d want to make some changes. In terms of promotion, through the labels Iron Bonehead and Dark Descent and the band is now a little known outside Chile

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?

OCCULT DEATH METAL

8- How has the production process for your new release been?

The album was recorded in one month at DM6 studio (at home!) this year 2014, . Not only we have recorded all of our albums there, also our rehearsal room is there. There have passed more than 10 years in that place. Pablo Clares (the owner) has been a great friend and collaborator with us all this time! He knows how his works do. Besides he is also a big fan of Death Metal! In my opinion IT DOESN’T EXIST a better place in Chile to record Death Metal than there. The cover art was painted masterfully by Daniel Corcuera, I trust on his talent and his good taste. The picture of the band in the record was took at Santiago`s Cathedral, right in the place where there is a commemorative plaque for the murdered of a priest (committed right after he officiated the Mass) by a young Chilean guy who yelled “For Satan!” at the moment he sliced his throat. The rest of stuff like layout, logos, additional pictures, etc. were made by myself

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?

The songwriting took about a year. I bring the riffs, arrangements and dis-harmonies of both guitars (I come with everything done and ready in accordance

to what lyrics need like faster, slower or thicker parts, strange arrangements, etc.) . Is personal, a kind of trance, I only thinking in the «concept» and the lyrics, while I do an old trick: I move randomly the fingers over guitar, until I’m no longer playing at random, but there is a «pattern» a «riff». Once I show guitars to Butcher, drum is 100% his responsibility. Then we adjust the structure and cuts, together in the rehearsal room. When that base is settled, we incorporate the bass (based on drums). I used to do the bass but in this last record, NAMRU IMPETRADORUM MORTEM was integrated into the creative process of basses, all of them were 100% invented by him in Chapter VIII.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?

In September of this year 2014 we will be in Europe in our second tour with INCARCERATION and ZOMBIFICATION in Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Holland and Belgium, and finally with DECAPITATED CHRIST! In Spain, France and Portugal. I hope to see all the European necromantic maniacs there!
