KEITZER (Eng.)
1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?
Hi, thanx for this interview. Basically we’re looking forward to the release of our 5th album „The Last Defence“ that will be out in a couple of days. Since recording we played some really good shows, slowly starting to write some new material…besides being stuck in all-day hell…
2- First off, could you make some history of the band?
The Band was formed in 1999 in a small town near Münster, Germany. In 2001 our debut LP «…to destroy the planet earth” was released, followed by the split EP w/ Remains of the Day in 2003. After two European Tours in 2001 and 2003, both with Remains of the Day, we recorded «Suicide Anthology» in 2004 which was released in 2005. During the years we played a lot of shows and a Germany-Tour with polish tech-grinders Antigama in 2006, we released the limited split 3″CD with DAS KRILL which came out on 7” vinyl in 2008 as well. We recorded the album «As the world burns» in 2008. The same year we played the Maryland Deathfest and some shows on the US-east coast together with the infamous, just re-united Japanische Kampfhörspiele, the infamous Obscene Extreme in Czech Republic and Eindhoven’s Bloodshed Fest. In the first cold days of 2009 we toured with German Death-Thrashers MINION across Germany and later interpreted Nasum’s “A Welcome Breeze of Stinking Air” for the “A Tribute To NASUM”-Sampler. In 2011 our latest LP-“Descend into Heresy”- came out, followed by a new appearance at the Bloodshedfest at legendary Dynamo Club. Then in 2012 we once again hit the stage of the Obscene Extreme! Now it’s 15 years later, and album #5 is out soon…
3- How could you describe your sound?
Grinding Metal Fury. A brutal, aggressive, blasting, yet diverse mixture of extreme forms of heavy music.
4- What are the band’s main musical influences?
All the music we like. That reaches from Classic Hardrock and Heavy Metal, over Thrash, Death, Stoner, 70s, Grindcore, Hardcore, Crust, Punk, and on and on… What really had an impact on us were bands like Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Discordance Axis, Acme, Systral, Mörser, Reversal of Man, Nasum and so many more. I’d say all the hard rocking music from the last 50 years…
5- How is the feedback for your new album being?
Quite good. The first reviews are up, and they’re more or less all very cool and positive. The last shows we played we introduced some new songs and the responses were really awesome, as well as the feedback we got from the songs that we streamed before the release. People came to us and complimented the songs, that was really overwhelming…
6- And are you personally satisfied with the final outcome?
Definitely. For us it’s the best recordings we ever did. The sound came out exactly as we wanted, really thick and heavy. Jörg Uken from Soundlogde studio did a great job. I think we also made another step forward in songwriting. As well as the artwork by Flo Furtkamp, which turned out better than we could ever imagine. All in all we’re really proud of the new album!
7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?
Brutal, Blasting, Diverse
8- How has the production process for your new release been?
We were very well prepared, so we recorded the whole thing in 5 days on 2 weekends. One day for the drums, two and half for the guitars, one and half for bass and vocals. The chemistry between Jörg and us was really good, so we all had a really good time. We recorded all tracks by ourselves, no manipulations, so that’s probably why the sound is so heavy, still raw and brutal. Then it was two days of mix and mastering. Simple as that…
9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?
Normally someone comes up with new ideas, can be riffs or whole songs and then we work on them together in the rehearsals. Everybody throws in his additional ideas and changes, so in the end we have a result that pleases us all. The process of finishing the songs becomes really natural and in the most ideal
moments just seem to happen. Then it’s the best songs, I’d say…
10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?
Playing lots of shows, gaining more fans with the latest record, write good music, get rich and famous, thrash hotel rooms…
11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
Check out “ The Last Defence”, invite us to shows, buy us beer, support the underground. Thank you for reading, cheers!
