– Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What’s currently going on into the SUICIDAL ANGELS’ camp?

Hello to you as well. Right now we are rehearsing our new setlist, writing a new song now and then if it feels right and getting ready to hit the road. Our latest record just came out and we are waiting to receive feedback and fan opinions.

– You have just unleashed your new “Bloodbath”, are you guys satisfied with it?

Yes, very much. To us, this is our best album, the best songs we’ve written. The production is the best we’ve ever had, we spent a lot of time into the creation of the new songs, paying a lot of attention to details. We are also very pleased to work again with Ed Repka for the cover of “Bloodbath”.

– And how are the first reactions being?

So far, everyone is very excited about it. Friends and fans love it, the press has given us awesome reviews, it’s all good. What’s left is to perform the album live! But we’re off to a good start so that’s very important.

– “Bloodbath” is such a strong and straight-forward name for an album. How do you think does it describe the music on the album?

I think it’s a word that pretty much sums up the whole record. Aggressive, in-your-face, direct, people can understand from point zero what we’re talking about here. It’s not easy-listening, it’s not soft and slow. We mean business…

– What do lyrics on “Bloodbath” deal with?

It’s about the whole situation on the world right now, among others. Politics, economics, societies, all going down in a big dirty hole… People are becoming depressed and oppressed, more every day. This will not end well, mark my words. Men will rise up eventually and bring about a new order of things, a just one. But to achieve that, people will have to fight and bathe themselves in blood before we can rise above all that eventually.

– You have been compared to SLAYER many times, how do you feel about this? And do you think with this new album people may start to see your own sound?

I think it’s unfair for anyone, let alone us, to be compared to the most extreme band of all times, in my opinion. It is an honour of course, but it’s not like we try to sound like them. Slayer’s our favourite band of course, and EVERYONE has been influenced by them, so it’s really really hard to play the kind of music that we do and not remind someone of Slayer. We never tried to copy them, and we never will, we always try to distinguish ourselves from other bands.

– Anyway you have always remained true to yourself and sound, true to the old school Thrash Metal. Is this something easy to get and keep on doing without copying yourself?

It’s the music we like to play, there’s nothing more to it. As I said before, we try to be different without changing our music. Some say that we repeat ourselves from record to record, or even that our songs sound the same. But these people, 9 times out of 10, do not listen to Thrash metal, so they don’t know what this music is about. We don’t claim to be the ultimate Thrashers, but we know how we like our music and we will keep on doing what we do as long as we can.

– BOLT THROWER’s Karl Willets is a guest artist we can find on “Bloodbath”. How did everything start and what has he brought to “Legacy of Pain”?

We’ve known Karl and Bolt Thrower for a long long time, before Suicidal Angels became popular. We had the chance to meet again in 2010, when we played together in some festivals and also supported them on their show in Athens. When we composed “Legacy of Pain”, its slow tempo the whole riffology reminded us of Bolt Thrower and we thought it would so awesome if Karl could sing on that. We sent him an e-mail and he replied the very next day saying he would do it!!! We were so thrilled and honoured as you can imagine. His voice fell in perfectly in the track, brought a different kind of sound to a Suicidal Angels’ track.

– As you did for your two previous releases, Lia Liapakis took production duties for this album, so I guess you may be satisfied with his work and this seems to be a solid and efficient teamwork.

I’m glad you think so. Yes, it seems like it’s working well so far. He knows our style well enough now and we like working with him. He’s a great guy and easy to work with. Jorg Uken did the mix and master this time though, at Soundlodge Studios. Good team this time around.

– And finally, you will soon embark on a European tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE, BEHEMOTH, LEGION OF THE DAMNED and MISERY INDEX. What are your expectations with this tour? And what can your fans expect to see on stage?

We know it’s going to be great, so many awesome bands! Behemoth haven’t hit the road in two years! We pretty much expect every show to be sold-out, or close to being so. We’re really looking forward to it, it’s been a while since we toured and we need it badly! Our friends and fans know what to expect from us. Thrash metal, fine and pure. We’ve missed the stage and all the crazy metalheads that honour our shows!

– That has been everything from my side, thank you once more for your time. If you now want to add some final words, last lines are all yours

Thank you for your time and this interview. We’ll see all of you on the road sooner or later. Thrash till death and then some!
