– Hello, thanks for taking the time. How is everything going right now with BESTIAL RAIDS? What is keeping the horde busy at the moment?
Hi, we actually wait for vinyl pressing of our new album “Master Satan’s Witchery”. Cd was just released. No other news at the moment.

– I won’t ask you to make history of the band but what motivated you to form such a primitive band in the first place? Was a matter of devotion? Of spreading a message and channeling your wrath?
Me and our former guitarist, were totally diasponted of direction where so-called “underground black/death metal” aimed. Plastic sound, weak people, no devotion, et., etc. We decided to form the most ugly and prmitive band at that time.

– Bestial Raids is also a name that I think captures the band essence and its music. As back in the old days, it’s straight forward and by just reading it you can get an idea on what we can expect from you. Was it someting you were striving for to find something that could fit your essence?
We took our name from the one of the very first songs we composed. After the years, I am sure it was a good choice, as our moniker represents everything we are about. On albus and live.

– You are about to unleash your new album, 5 years after your previous «Prime Evil Damnation» came out. What have you been up to during these last years?
All of us were involved in other bands, which is very time consuming. Besides that, we were playing numerous live shows and composing new stuff, which was pretty demnding.

– Your upcoming «Master Satan’s Witchery» will be your second album with NWN, which seems a perfect haven for an act like BESTIAL RAIDS with bands such as HOLOCAUSTO, ABIGAIL or MORBOSIDAD among many others on their rooster. You came from smaller labels so, how is this cooperation working thus far? Have you noticed any positive effects on the band’s following and exposure?
We are 100% happy of co-operation with Nuclear War Now! Our albums and merchendise are easy to find everywhere on earth. Yosuke is devoted guy and belives in bands from his label. We don’t need anything more, as we consider Bestial Raids as an underground band all the time.

– You just get better with any album, no innovation, no experiments, just getting sicker and more bestial, a more solid unit with each new release. Is this just a natural evolution?
You can call it evolution, whatever. We just play together since a while, so we had to progress at some point. We found our formula, but at the same time we try to compose a little bit different music for each album. Let it be song or sound or lyrics. We hate stagnation.

– For instance this album is more chaotic and twisted I’d say. Is this your aim for every album you release or you just let things flow?
We don’t think too much about compositions. We just play whatever we want at the moment. We take the inspiration from various metal generes. On the new album we paid the homage for the old-school grindcore/Death metal, like Nuclear Death, Repulsion, Napalm Death, Necrosanct, Dead Christ, etc.

– As always the sound on the album is really honest and dirty, how was the production process like? I guess you recorded it fast. How important is to keep the honesty and spontaneity?
We always take care about the improvisation, which is the most important factor in creation within our band. We not spend too much time recording, that’s truth. Mixing is much more demanding. This time our mate, Phil Kusabs did the mix. We are amazed with the final result. Dirty yet powerful and fll of dynamics.

– And how do you work on the songwriting? Is it also a quite spontaneous process?
I wouldn’t say it’s spontanous. We imrovise a lot, but when we have the skeleton of compoosition ready, we take our time to work out all details.

– For the vinyl version of your previous album you had a special artwork for each song on the record. What will the vinyl version of «Master Satan’s Witchery» include?
This time, we decided to have the artwork ascetic. Wait and see.

– And all this about «Master Satan’s Witchery» being said; how could you describe it in just 3 words?
You mean the title? It’s pretty complex with multiple layers of understanding. These three words are just a key.

– You have always had an extreme image, extreme music and extreme live performances. I could see you guys at Hell over Hammaburg and was the most intense show of the whole festival; a small, dark, venue with just a few maniacs pouring ferocity and nothing else. Would you say BESTIAL RAIDS belongs to the stage?
Yes, we love live performances, but we refuse to play very often. It help us to keep focus on each show and bring the freshness to our performance. We love such small venues, when the contact with the audienc is almost tangible.

– You also spread a wicked message with your ugly music, you keep the good old spirit so I’d like to know what is Black Metal for you, are also UG Metal, as I think both have more to do with a matter of attitude.
Black Metal and other Satanic arts are part of me. It’s not only “way of life” or “attitude”. It’s natural, with all its rawness, intransigence and intolerance. This is how I am. It won’t change.

– And now as the end of the year is drawing nearer, could you please tell us what have been your 3 favourite albums of 2016?

bestial-raids-cover
Just listen to the new Antaeus which is pretty good. Irkallian Oracle was fantastic.

– Finally, what are now your near-future plans?
Polish tour with Mgla in 2017 and various live shows here and there. Besides that we wait for the vinyl and bunch of new merch being released.

– That’s all, thank you once more for answering our questions. If you want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
Thanks for interview.
