1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

We recently released our debut album «Digging Mercy’s Grave» on January 14th followed by a series of CD release shows in both Phoenix Arizona and southern California. Today, February 5th, we completed the filming of our new music video for our song titled «Overdose» which is scheduled for release on April 30th, 2017.

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?
We’re an American heavy metal band from the desert of Phoenix Arizona formed in 2013. Our band name was vocalist Richie Jano’s Xbox Live gamer tag and was suggested as a joke. However, it caught the ears of the other members and we became what is now known as Murkocet. A substance directly attributed to the aggressive and often times violent actions of it’s user; which in essence would be our music. Murkocet’s lineup consists of vocalist Richie Jano, guitarist Nate Garrett, drummer Mike Mays and bassist Brandon Raeburn. The band has released one EP, one full length album and one music video to date. We have played with such national acts as Exodus, Attila, The Word Alive and more.

3- How could you describe your sound?
We would describe our sound as highly aggressive core style metal with a melodic groove. Our main objective has always been to write material that would not only be exciting musically, but have a strong emphasis on crowd involvement. A lot of focus is placed on heavy downbeats that arrive from anticipation building rhythms. We have been described as sort of a «gateway band» in the sense that our music compels even fans of other genres to appreciate and love metal as much as we do.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?
We all have our own individual musical influences but collectively we are heavily influenced by Lamb of God, Slipknot, Hatebreed, etc.

5- How has the feedback for your new album been?
We are honestly overwhelmed with the amount of positive responses we’ve received since the release of «Digging Mercy’s Grave». It’s funny to us because although we are very proud of our album, the nostalgia from it being both ours and something that everyone enjoys so far is truly rewarding.

6- And are you personally satisfied with the final outcome?
We are extremely proud of the album and its outcome. It was a very humbling experience to watch this band start from nothing and progress to where it is today. With that being said this album is much more than just a set of enjoyable songs, but a real achievement that we can share as individuals who have all come together with the common goal to connect with people all over the world through music.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?
Metal. As. Fuck.

8- How was the production process for your new release?ROB_0024
Working with a skilled audio engineer is always the way to go, however when that audio engineer is also one of your friends that enjoys your music, it allows for a very simple production process.  Our friend Byron Filson at Villain Recording in Phoenix is genuinely a master of his craft; he not only has a great ear, but knows how to make recording a fun experience as compared to the stressful experiences you often hear about from other local bands.  One of the toughest things about being in a local band is finding the right person to help you create the product that you’re looking for, and with Byron we have that.

9- And how does the songwriting process work?
There is no true process.  Occasionally the songs are written differently in the sense that perhaps the lyrics or the guitar comes first and they’re built around that.  However, the constant within our writing process is that once we find a sound that we fall in love with, we allow it to snowball into something really fun and exciting. We are the kind of guys who look forward to raising the bar for ourselves every time we set out to create new content, whether it be music or videos.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?
In the future, we are excited for the release of our first studio produced music video.  Shortly after that video is released we will also be releasing a brand new single in May.  Obviously scattered between these two events there are a handful of fun shows that we are currently booked for, so there’s always that.  2017 looks to be a promising year for us, and we plan on taking full advantage of all of the opportunities that come our way.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
We appreciate being a part of this interview, and strongly urge anyone who reads this to find us and our music online.  We love to interact and talk with our friends and fans and would love to hear your feedback after you check us out!
