– Hi, thanks for your time. What are you currently up to? How is everything doing right now with DANKO JONES?

Right now we just started our tour for our new album!

– You have just released your new «Rock and Roll is Black and Blue» . What are your expectations on it? How has been its feedback so far?

So far the feedback has been great and the expectation is for it to be our most succefull record to date

– First off, why did you pick such title for your new album? Could you say it depicts the musical content on the CD?

It is an old title we had kicking around that we thought we be perfect for the release

– «Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue» feel to me like your most emotional record so far. Was this something you were striving for or did it just come out like this naturally?

We just play hard rock music, and we were striving for songs to be rocking!

– I could say the band’s sound has been getting harder from album to album, so now we have your brashest and most shameless record to date. Is this a constant evolution for DANKO JONES?

Thank you. We are super proud of it and think that the latest linup with atom on drums has really kick the band into the highest gear ever!

– Your sound is always quite diverse but, what have been the most influential bands for DANKO JONES? Have they been changing throughout the years?

No influences always stay the same, kiss acdc, thin lizzy, motorhead… the staples

– This new «Rock and Roll is Black and Blue» has been produced by your longtime «mate» Matt DeMatteo, and mixed by Mike Fraser (whom has worked with the likes of AC/DC or AEROMISTH among others), and I personally think the sounds fits perfectly your music. Are you satisfied with the work done by them both? I guess it may be something positive to have such a seasoned guy as MIke but also a familiar dude as Matt.

Yeah very satisfied with the record. Really happy that Mike got to mix this one, we have been fans for a while.

– This has also been your first album with drummer Atom Willard. What has he brought to DANKO JONES? Your only line-up changes have been in the drum set, is the band cursed with drummers?

We are not cursed, atom is with us! Haha He is the best danko drummer to date, and both danko and myself knew before we even played together that he would be the perfect fit for the music and direction of what the band intends and intended to do.

– Your lyrics use to deal with girls, sexual tension and, overall, a certain lifestyle. Are your lyrics inspired on personal experiences?

I believe all danko’s lyrics have an element of personal experiences to them if not I would think it would be hard to sing about something you don’t really know about.

– All this about «Rock and Roll is Black and Blue» being said; how could you describe it in just 3 words?

KICK ASS ROCK

– You were formed almost 2 decades ago, quite a long time so, what could you say have been both the best and worst moments with/for the band thus far?

Lots of touring has ups and downs, gaining new fans, meeting new people… missing holidays and family is one of the ‘worst’ moments but the reward really outwerighs that

– You are hailing from Canada, which during the 80’s had some great Rock artists and also classical Heavy Metal acts but, how’s the current Rock scene out there?

We hardly spend anymore time in Toronto but there are a LOT of bands to come out of there. In Toronto Biblical and the two koreas are my local fav bands

– And finally, what are your near-future plans?

TOURING. TOURING and more TOURING!!!

– That’s all, thank you once more for answering our questions. If you want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

Please check out dankojones.com for the latest info and follow us on all social media platforms please!!! Keep it hard and heavy
