– First off thanks for answering our interview. How’s currently the band doing near to the release of a new album?

Hi Paco, it´s me, Freddy. Thanxx for your interest in NECRONOMICON. Well, currently it is running better than ever. We are very pleased with everything, especially with the release of the new album and how things have evolved.

– Tell us a bit how were their recording sessions and the meaning behind both the title and the album’s cover.

Well, we got so many setbacks and got up again and again . For me it´s the perfect album title. This is a recurring theme throughout the album . Unconquered, unbeatable.Never give up…..before the curtain falls and the cover reflects the inverted again. About the sound, I think the difference from the past albums is predominantly in the “natural maturation process” of a band. What’s not to say that it has now become commercially or soft. No, I believe everyone of us has made a development, which must be regarded positively. It sounds simple round together and coherent, without losing their thrash roots. In addition to the outstanding work by soundmaster Achim Köhler, the album is kickn´ass. It blows your head away

– Listening to this effort I see the band’s basis is still old school Thrash Metal but there is also a more updated sound. Has the final output been how you wanted the album to sound like?

Yes, absolutely. But I think, the sound is not typical like other German bands. It´s has his own style and that´s what I prefer. We are not a copy of some others.

– Talk us a bit about the songs on the album. Have all of them have a common topic? What does NECRONOMICON sing about nowadays?

I am referring to the current time events, personal fates or political events. But I like to give it back sometimes in fantasy images. I got my inspiration in movie sounds. Sounds strange, but it´s true. I’m trying, NECRONOMICON remain faithful to it´s own style.

– And about the band itself, you have had some changes since your reunion in 2005. Who form nowadays the NECRONOMICON line-up?

We never had a reunion. I will tell you about this fucking situation. You know, we got a lot of set backs in this era. At first GAMA REC. (our first label) was one of that neagative things. This label ripped off all the band who signed there. We never got our money and lost our song-& name-rights for over 15 years. Only with a lot of money and legal fees I was able to got the rights back. And then we got the personal problems. Lala split the band, Jogi got a tinitus, Axel became healthy problems, too ect……I formed the band in the 80y´s and I ´m the last “One” of this area. Nowadays I got fantastic guys, who help me to bring NECRONOMICON to where it belongs.

– NECRONOMICON is one of so many bands that came out from the thrasher Germany from the mid 80’s. How were like the first steps of the band?

Like all the bands have made. We produced a demo and looked for a serious label. Unfortunately, since our misfortunes began. Gama Rec. was probably the worst thing that could happen to us. But besides all the bad experience we were “One” and we were never discouraged us.

– Why didn’t you have the same luck as other acts like KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SODOM or TANKARD? How were those days in Germany during the mid 80’s when so many bands were born?

We got this fucking label. That´s all. Today, without professional assistance, you do not come forward. Especially in this business. But I ´m looking forward, I do not look back. And our time is coming now, I´m very optimistic. And I think we have to hide behind anyone. Sure, we are not quite as successful as the one or other, but we have increased steadily. The best proof are still the reviews of last years. We were always at the forefront. I also do not like these constant comparisons. We got our own style and we are NECRONOMICON. For the German Thrash the 80s were very important, especially so many good bands had formed. Unfortunately not all had so much luck as Sodom ore the others.

– Nowadays, thanks to technology, people can have access to more albums, and its obvious pieces like “Necronomicon” and “Apocalyptic Nightmare” are currently cult albums. Have you noticed that?

Yes, of course and I´m also a little proud of it, honestly. Especially the first LP has made history.

– In 1994 you did a new effort releasing “Scream”. How was this period like? Maybe the mid 90’s wasn’t a good era to release an album or did someone support you when it came to create it?

This was not an easy time … for all the German bands. The 90s were the era of New metal. Bands like Machinehead ( I like these guys) were born and got a very successful time. In Germany bands like Rammstein were the measure of all things. Fortunately, all this has changed again and Thrash Metal is hotter than ever.

– There were 10 years more until 2004, and since then you have released 3 albums. Did you notice, due to the Internet, the audience wanted more albums by NECRONOMICON? Or was a new momentum as so many bands started to be then back on track?

We were never influenced of trends and are always given our path lengths. I can´t also tell you exactly why it went well since the release of „Construction of evil“. Maybe we got this kind of luck which we always have maintained or worked for.

– Coming back to the present, how’s the tour situation and the promotion of the album? Are you announced for some festival like KIT, BYH or Up the Hammers, were a lot of cult bands use to play?

Unfortunately, in terms of festivals, we are a bit late with the publication of “Invictus”. I certainly hope to got one or the other major festival. Currently we are working on our tour through South America and South Africa. And we want come back to Spain. All these guys are so enthusiastic there.

– And a view to the future, what do you expect from the band? Is there anything in mind dealing with recordings, some live album or DVD?

Absolutely, I would produce a live dvd. This will happen as part of a tour or some big festivals.

– Another question I have is that if will be a vinyl version for the new album.

I don´t know my friend. This decision is a part of Massacre Records. I like Vinyl versions, cause it´s always something special.

– So that’s all from our side, thank you so much for answering our questions and our best wishes. Thanks.

We got more than 25 years dedicate thru this kind of music, we got heaven and we got hell in this area, believe me, but only this fucking noise of this music let us be alive. Thanxx again for this interview it was an honour for me. Freddy
