1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?
Thank you for the interview! My name is Jason and I’m the drummer for the band Temptation’s Wings from Asheville North Carolina,USA. We very much appreciate this interview. Currently we are finishing up our new album due in early March of 2017. Also, we are working on booking some shows to coincide around release and writing a companion short story we will be publishing to release alongside the album.

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?
Our guitar player Micah, had this band established before I joined and it fell apart roughly the same time my previous band did so I wrote him on Myspace about 10 years ago and been having writing music together ever since. I learned some of the songs he had demoed and he said I played it much better than it was recorded so I figured I was hired! We started as a 4 piece, and I  kind of pushed Micah into singing when we lost our singer. I just thought he did way better than anyone we tried out. We found our key he sounded best in and never looked back.  Bass players have come and gone but they have all contributed immensely. We’ve recorded 2 albums and 2 eps but we really hit our sound and style on last ep for sure. And this new album will definitely be what we judge future releases against. Our new bassist Chad has really brought a new dimension to our song writing and expanded on what we did before. Should be a fun chapter coming up in the history of the band

3- How could you describe your sound?
Were actually all over the place. A lot of stoner/doom sound but also elements of thrash, power metal, southern rock/metal, blues and a bit of black metal thrown in as well. No breakdowns or screaming from us!

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?
I would say core influences on our sound would be Black Sabbath, Amon Amarth, and The Sword. But there are so many known and unknown bands we love we pull influence from without realizing it while we write. Personal influences we all three share are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Mastodon, Opeth, ZZ Top, SRV, Testament, the list goes on.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?
Well at the time of this interview the album hasn’t been released yet except for a single titled “Lair of the Gorgon Queen”. A lot of good positive feedback on it since we released it about a month ago. We played a show last month a few people already knew the words! We have let friends and other media contacts we know listen to some rough tracks and they all seem to think we have a really good album on our hands. It makes the wait to release it a lot harder!

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?
We all are extremely satisfied so far. I see no reason why we won’t be completely satisfied with final outcome. So many things we decided to try for the first time really expanding our sound and approach since the last EP “Legends of the Tusk”. We used an e-bow for the first time, going to have some Viking blowing horns on the album and even a tambourine. So lots of new stuff for us we have never done before.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?
tw1   Just three is tough but without using the word Epic which is overused(and usually the wrong way) I’d say Thunderous, Atmospheric, and Ambitious.

8- How has the production process for your new release been?
Fun! We love all the songs so sometimes it was tough deciding which song to record next. The studio owner Andy Bishop is a blast to work with. He recorded our last EP “Legends of the Tusk” also. He’s not afraid to tell you your take sucked and do it again, so it really pushes the best out of us and its recorded forever. Trying new pedals, writing new bass lines, vocal ideas, having an outsider suggest things makes some of these songs new again even though we’ve had some written for a few years.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?
Starts with a riff. After doing this 10 years it’s still the same formula for us, some riffs you can instantly identify as the main riff of the song, others you know are chorus and bridge riffs. We usually put two riffs together pretty fast and let it snowball from there. We have zero interest in talking real life issues in our music. To us music and especially playing music is an escape from everyday life, so a lot of times we just see or hear about something interesting and write a song about it. It can usually determine what the riff is going to sound like also. For our current album we wrote a story to interconnect the songs. It was really fun and challenging to interconnect the songs and make it one coherent story from start to finish. Hopefully it’s clear enough outside our small circle for other people to pick up what it’s about. But if it’s not the companion short story should explain everything nicely. I don’t know if a book has ever been released with an album before but were going to do it. Just because you’re in a small band doesn’t mean you have to think small!

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?
Promotion and shows! Our time is limited between the 3 of us with family obligations and work and all that, so were going to pick the highest profile shows we can jump on around the region and see how far we can ride on the coattails of this album. Hopefully to greater pastures but we’ll see. The unknown is always exciting.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
