BLUT AUS NORD (Eng.)
– Hello and first off thank you for taking the time. «777 Sect(s)» has just been released. How is going it’s response so far?
People are very enthusiastics about the album. Reviews are extremely good everywhere and fans are statisfied with this first part of the trilogy.
– What does the «777» mean? The album title, your project also named 777…
777 is about light, and annihilation of psychological time and the destruction of thought. This trilogy illustrates a way of evolution, or elevation of the human soul free from every form of power, philosophical, political or religious. 777 is a concept about the purest form of subversion.
– This is the first part for a trilogy. Why did you decide to release a trilogy? I mean, how positive is that for you and your music?
The concept needed several albums because musically it was impossible to express the different states of evolution with just one album. A trilogy is the perfect way to work on this concept and it’s allows us to explore a lot of different musical territories, atmospheres, etc…
– The rest parts for the trilogy will be released this same year, so I guess you already have some more stuff written…
Yes, the second opus is recorded and we are still working on the third one.
– How important is philosphy for you? I mean, is it a big source of inspiration for BLUT AUS NORD?
Absolutely, philosophy, and especially eastern philosophy, is the essence of Blut Aus Nord.
– I think one of the elements that difference this album for your previous ones, is that we can find more «mechanical» parts. But what could you say differences those albums?
You’re right, there are more mechanical / industrial parts, Sect(s) is very
“complete” and powerfull. This album is a perfect example of equilibrium and it’s a great opening on the second opus which is more mechanical, heaviest and slowlest. This trilogy is not something brutal or agressive but more and more contemplative…
– Anyway, you have always been faithful to yourself still trying new things with each record, being one different to the previoues one. Is this something planned or do you just go with the flow, evolving constantly?
We don’t try to be an experimental band, we just need to explore a lot of different things, just because the possibilities in term of music are infinites. What is the interest for a band to play the same thing eternaly and what is the interest for you to listen the same thing again and again ¿
– It seems experimenting is something important for BLUT AUS NORD, is that true? You’ve been evolving and experimenting for many years and albums. Do you have any limits (music-wise)?
Why should we have a limit ¿ We are talking about music, about Art and there’s no limit in creation. When you have a limit you don’t create anything, you just play a clearly defined style of music with a defined sound, a defined attitude, a defined approach. Black Metal is a subversive form of Art and subversion is the result from the unexpectedness.
– The whole atmosphere in this piece is just amazing, it seems you have even perfectioned them; they got a great mood and a really cold feeling. Do you need any special enviroment when it comes to compose and create?
Yes, i can’t compose with the daylight. To compose music is like a session of deep meditation, you are connected with something else, far from this material life, and you become a vector towards the inspiration and the final result. Inspiration is just fascinating and each new song is a surprise for me, each creation is a new possibility, each creation is a key to infinity. This work is the best thing of this world..
– Once more, almost discordant sounds mixed with melody have an important role too. How important are these contrasts to you?
Contrasts are essential for the equilibrium of our work, if you paint back on black you won’t see anything…the light feeds the darkness, the darkness feeds the light. Nature and Universe are a fragile question of equilibrium, this principle is imutable and our music doesn’t evolve above or beyond the Universe, Blut Aus Nord is the sound of this Universe.
– When I reviewed the album I wrote it was like a journey to your own world but, what did you try to express with your music?
We try to propose a path for introspection, that’s why we always try to be atmospheric, sometimes in a macabre way sometimes in melodic spheres. The only important thing for us is to create a visual environment with our music, each album has to be a real experience, not just music. MoRT and Dialogue With The Stars are extremely different but both are a journey for the attentive listener.
– You also recently re-released «The Mystical Beast of Rebellion» . The original release was very limited and the album has been out of print for several years. How did the idea of this re-release born? The album comes with a bonus CD containing 3 new tracks. Tell
us please a bit about them. Are they completely new? Since their sound is somhow similar to your previous album.
The album was sold out since a long time, especially in the States, so we have decided to re-release it on our new label Debemur Morti. We wanted to propose more than just a simple re-release and the idea of second album was born. We have composed three new songs, a new interpretation of the original concept and title. The second CD is entirely new, composed a few months before the release date, it represents our vision of The Mystical Beast Of Rebellion ten year later, in 2009. Very interesting project, and surprising result.
– The artwork is fully new, what can you explain us about it? It’s meaning and what links it to your lyrics and concepts, the artist behind it…
The artwork is a realization of Daniel Valencia of Fenomeno Design, a very talentuous artist. We have explained him the concept of the trilogy, we gave him 2 or 3 important details about the artwork and a few weeks later he sent us this impressive and “abstract” result.
– They are long songs but you’ve managed to maintain those atmospheres and an intriguing feeling until the last note, doing from them coherent tracks from start to end . How easy is to achieve this?
We are listening a lot of progressive music, especially prog bands of the 70’s. We like to work on each transition of our song, we like to build a coherent musical structure, it’s a natural process for us. We can’t compose a song with verse/chorus/verse/chorus, i hate this kind of song structure. That’s uninteresting to listen an uninteresting to compose.
– You have always been considered one of the most experimenting and pioneering bands into Black Metal. What are your feelings about it? And how important is for the Black Metal scene to have bands like you (always opening new paths and minds)?
Experimentation is essential, Bathory, Emperor, Mayhem, Darkthrone, and all those great ancients names were pioneering bands in their time, their respective sound and musical approach were unique and they represent today a massive part of the Black Metal legend and history. You can’t create this legend with clones of leaders bands, followers are useless. Without any evolution you become sterile, a living antithesis of Art and … you rot.
– If I’m not wrong, since the beginning you’re not playing live; what’s the reason for that? And, have you ever considered doing any show?
Yes a few times when the organizers of important fests asked to play live but, finaly, we have decided to refuse this idea. We don’t see music as something fun, for entertainement. Our work is not composed for a collective listening, Blut Aus Nord is a sound created for introspection, our place is not on stage, we are creators not performers.
– And finally, what are your near-future plans? Not only with BLUT AUS NORD.
In 2012 , I should release a new album with The Eye and a first ep or a demo with two new projects called Brumes and Vjeshitza.
– That’s all. Thank you once more and feel free to add any last words.
Thank you for your patience and support
