ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY (Eng.)
– Hello, thanks for your time. What’s the band currently up to?
No worries, we’re currently just planning the next year and a half tour wise and taking a small break after an awesome uk/euro headline tour
– First off, I would like to share some history of ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY…
Formed in 2006, released an ep and 2 albums, toured the world, raged, just released a 2nd ep and now ready to tour again basically
– And why did you pick that name for the band?
to be honest i don’t even remember
– Your new EP, «Dark Days», was released just a few days ago. How’s everything going with it and its acceptance?
Yeah its all going great, had a lot of awesome feedback from both the fans and the music industry which is awesome, of course there are the people who aren’t into it because they liked the sound of our last cd but we gotta do what makes us happy
– Before getting a bit into it; why «Dark Days»? What does it make reference to?
The ep is about the downside of being in a band pretty much, tackles personal problems i/we have had over the last year or so ranging from ex members stealing money from me personally in the song resnoz, too the title track which is about loosing touch with people you love through being away for such a long time, being in a band is great but you do sacrifice a lot to live this lifestyle
– How was the songwriting process for this «Dark Days»?
Yeah it was a lot of fun, we just took over time, jammed the tracks out in rehearsal and demo’d everything at don’s house till we were happy with what we had, fairly standard way we write.
– I could say this is your most varied effort so far, as it has details from different music styles so, what bands/musucal genres have influenced your sound?
Well with member changes come a lot of new influences, we listen to all types of music and we found ourselves going away from death metal because it was exciting anymore, the last death metal release that excited me was immolations last release and that was back in 2010, its just stale and kids don’t enjoy it so much live, we’re all pretty into bands like hatebreed, gallows, crowbar, legend stuff like that and we wanted to be more of a metal/hardcore band that doesn’t just have to play dm shows we wanted to be able to play both metal shows and hardcore shows and be comfortable in both.
– You included a cover for MACHINE HEAD’s «Ten Ton Hammer». Tell us a bit about it; how did you come up with thi idea, why this concrete song, what changes did you do to this tune…
We’ve never really done a cover before, we’ve always spoke about it cause its such a fun idea but we thought it would be the perfect song to do, we played it in our tuning which is G# rather than heat it was recorded in which i think was drop b, so that already makes it way heavier, slower parts down, sped parts up, just made it as energetic as possible really, expect more covers in the future.
– This is your first piece released by Siege of Amida; how’s everything going with them? And how different is Siege of Amida from a big label as Nuclear Blast?
Actually this is our 3rd release on SOAR, we have been on them since 2008, nuclear blast is just the rest of the world, soar was always our main label and uk label, they’re wicked guys and its nice to have people we know working for us rather than someone across the world
– Next 2012 you will release a new full-length album; could you already tell us something about it?
theres nothing to tell we’ve not started writing it yet haha we only just released dark days
– «Dark Days» sounds quite different from «Reign of Darkness»; will you follow this pattern in your upcoming record?
well we wont be revisiting the sound from the reign of darkness i can tell you that, regarding the sound i think that depends on what we feel like doing at the time but i think this is a pretty solid sound so i expect we’ll stay this way
– You’ve been around for not many years, but during this time you have had several line-up changes; is the current one a steady line-up?
we’ve had our fair few over the 5 years we’ve been a band, this line up is the most comfortable ive felt in the band so far, its just a bunch of friends hanging out
– When you started the band; what were your goals?
same as any other band really, have kids like your music and hope it takes you around the world, which it has
– And finally, what are your near-future plans?
tour everywhere we can and start on the new album
– That’s all from my side, thank you once more. Now feel free to add some final words.
Dark days is now available from itunes, pick it up!
