– Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What’s currently going on into the band’s camp?

SM: Hello there! Everything is really buzzing in the Savage Messiah trenches at the moment! It’s a very exciting time for us!

– You have just released your new “Plague of Conscience”. How’s its feedback going so far?

SM: The feedback from the fans has been absolutely amazing! We can’t thank them enough for all their kind words and support! Everyone has really got behind the new record and we’re totally overwhelmed with the response!

– Your previous “Insurrection Rising” got really good reviews. Did this make you work under more pressure for this new piece? Do you try to top over your previous CDs?

SM: I suppose there was a bit of pressure there. The band has evolved so much over the past couple of years that everything came pretty naturally to us though. We’re always trying to really push ourselves to reach higher and higher goals. The new record is living proof of that. We’ll never stop striving to make the best possible music we can.

– This is your third effort but the first one with Earache Records. After having released two albums with two different labels, do you think this new relationship with this company is more steady?

SM: Most definitely! We’re really happy to be on Earache Records. It’s such a well respected and influential label. We all grew up listening to Earache bands like Carcass, Napalm Death and so on. It’s a real honour to be working with them.

– You released this album online for free download. How and why did you come up with this idea?

SM: We wanted to reach out to as many people as we possibly could with this record. So we and the label decided to simply give it away! The response to the free download was incredible and we certainly got our new material out to a whole lot of people! The whole idea has been nothing but successful.

– So what are your thoughts on the Internet (and free downloads) and its impact into the music world?

SM: There is so much music in the world and a lot of it is rarely aired or made easily available, so the internet has been a great tool for breaking bands and artists to get their music out there and heard.

– What does the album’s name refer to?

SM: The album title refers to the inner struggle in our everyday lives. You’re told to be happy in a mostly oppressive environment but we blindly accept the terms of our own slavery everyday.

– You are playing traditional Heavy Metal, I could say influenced by the NWOBHM, with several Thrash elements but with a certain modern approach as well. Is it easy to make a good balance between these traditional influences and a modern sound or production?

SM: I think so. The bands and music we all listened to when we were growing up will always be with us. When you start stepping into the shoes of your idols and making your own music, you end up trying to capture the same fire and enthusiasm that those influences gave you when you were young. Throw in the more modern recording techniques and sounds and you will instantly create a more modern sounding record. As long as you keep true to yourselves and your sound, the music will be genuine and that’s the most important thing.

– In fact there are many bands with a “revival” sound but, what think sets SAVAGE MESSIAH apart from most of them?

SM: We’re not going for a retro style. We just write the music we love… and that’s METAL! We’re not a nostalgic tribute to the bands that came before us. We’re just a heavy metal band, plain and simple.

– You have always remained true to yourself and sound and “Plague of Conscience” is a proof of it. Is this something easy to get and keep on doing without copying yourself?

SM: We always try and push ourselves as hard as we can so that we always keep things fresh and new. Staying true to ourselves and our sound is, I guess, the easiest thing in the world! We love making the music we enjoy.

– Anyway this new piece sounds really mature (in sound and songwriting terms). Could you say you have now reached your ultimate degree of maturity?

SM: Not at all! We’re always maturing and developing as a band.

– And finally, what are your near-future plans?

SM: We’ve definitely got a real busy year ahead of us. Right now we’re gearing up for a string of headline dates in the UK with label mates Diamond Plate and will be touring extensively through out the year. We’re also stock piling new material for our next album.

– That has been everything from my side, thank you once more for your time. If you now want to add some final words, last lines are all yours

Just a big thank you to all that have supported us and the new record! The reaction to Plague of Conscience has been staggering and we can’t thank you all enough! SEE YOU ON THE ROAD!!!

STAY SAVAGE!!! \m/(><)\m/
