– Hi, thanks for your time. What are you currently up to? How is everything doing right now with RAUBTIER?

Hello. Curently I am on short break from the hunting season. Raubtier is doin’ good. We’ve got a hectic schedule comin’ up this fall.

– You are a relatively young band so, first off, could you please make some history of RAUBTIER?

I wouldn’t know if young is the right word to describe us. Me and Buffalo (The drummer) have been hammering metal for over a decade together. We come from hards ass thrash metal roots, and Raubtier is a mix between thrash riffing and industrial music.

– And how did you come up with the band’s name?

I saw the german dub of the movie Preadot when I was in Berlin.

– You will soon embark the Close-Up båten cruise with bands as CRAHSDÏET, SOULFLY, PAIN or ASPHYX among many others. What are your expectations?

Same as always. Very high.

– You have recently released your new «Från Norrland Till Helvetets Port»; how has its feedback been? Has it fulfilled your expectations?

Yes, Good sales, and the crowds are growing. I’m pleased.

– Getting a bit deeper into this new opus, what could you say differences your new piece to the previous ones?

I think it is steped in the same traditions. I believe in short and effective arena designed metal songs with a beat that EVERYONE can understand when it comes to composing Raubtier music. I will stick to that ideal. It seems to work. Lyricwise, I always delve into the darker sides of the human mind, and I spice it up with black humor.

– You have always remained faithful to the Industrial Metal style; is it easy to compose and come up with new riffs into this genre or don’t you set any kind of borders?

No, I wouldn’t say it is easy. Composing is a hard craft. And one of the greatest challenges lie within the art of making primitive ideas sophisticated, and simplicity interesting.

– Anyway you also have a really diverse sound so, what are the main musical influences for RAUBTIER?

Pantera, Fear Factory, Richard Wagner, Beethoven etc. In absurdum.

– The cover artwork of this record is really similar to the one you had for «Det Finns Bara Krig», was this something planned?

Yes. It was a nod towards the beginning. To display the fact that we still remain true to same ideals.

– I think you’ve managed to get a clear yet organic sound so, could you please tell us how was the production process and the recording sessions?

We tend to follow a pattern. I do all pre-production, keyboards and rhythm guitars with Buffalo in our own studio up north. Drums, Bass, Vocals and Lead guitars were recorded in Kjellgrens studio «Black Lounge» in Dalarna.

– And what do some of the lyrics on this CD deal with?

They deal with Touring, Critics, Suicide, Alcoholism, Success, Loss, Love and all kinds of issues related to the life I live.

– You have already done a video for «Sveriges Elit»; how did the experience go? And do you plan doing any other videos for this new album?

That one was cut and edited from shots we recorded on previous tours and studiosessions. It went without any pain. No more videos for this album though.

– All this about «Från Norrland Till Helvetets Port» being said; how could you describe it in just 3 words?

Really. Fucking. Awesome.

– You are hailing from Sweden, where we can find a lot of Heavy Metal, Death Metal and Hard Rock bands but there aren’t that many palying your style actually, besides PAIN and a few others so, are there any Industrial Metal bands from Sweden worth mentioning?

Well, I guess. Bad at namedropping though… But Deathstars are kickass…

– And finally, what are your near-future plans?

Touring, touring touring…. Recording, and then touring. Haha.

– That’s all, thank you once more for answering our questions. If you want to add some final words; feel free to do it.

Cheers to everyone out there. I hope you’ll dig Raubtier!
