– Hello, thanks for your time. What are you guys currently up to?

Your welcome. We are currently doing promotion for the album.

– We could say DENIAL FIEND is a superband but, how was it formed? How did everything begin?

Sam and I have a mutual friend that wanted to do a demo. He had Sam write the music and asked if Kam and I wanted to do participate. The band was called Shadows with Knives. It never took off so out of the ashes of that Denial Fiend emerged. John from Ibex Moon caught wind of the band and signed us.

– You will recently release «Horror Holocaust», what are your expectations for it?

We hope to do some touring and some festival dates. As far as sales no one can predict that because of the current state of the internet effecting cd sales but I think it will far out sale “They Rise”.

It’s chock full of motlen mayhem. From front to back it’s a nonstop frenzy. It’s aggressive, tight and lean, very thrashy. The lyrical content is horror and sci fi orientated.

– You started the band back in 2006, then you released some short-length works and your debut album in 2007, but you haven’t relesed anything else until now, why? What have you been up to during these years?

We had a line-up change to start with. Replacing Kam and Curtis took a little time. We had to write the album as well.

– In «Horror Holocaust» we can find some guests artists as James Murphy, Steve Swanson, Ralph Santolla… How did this arise?

Sam asked what I thought about asking those dudes to play on the album. I said it was a great idea. So I asked and they said hell yeah.We thought it would add a little texture to the song.

– How’s the songrwiting process like for DENIAL FIEND?

The process is very open. Anyone with an idea can present it. Sam is a riff machine. He churns out riffs left and right. For Horror Holocaust Sam ,Blaine and I wrote lyrics.

– This is your first record with Rob and Blaine. What have they both brought to the band?

Rob is a very good hard hitting drummer. He brings good timing and metering. The band is tighter. Blaine is a ledgend. He has a great crossover type of voice. He has some amazing squeals and screams on this one.

– And what are your main musical influences?

For me bands like Hellhammer,Venom, Angel Witch and Thin Lizzy, U-F-O, Uriah Heep.

– I could say «Horror Holocaust» is faster than «They Rise»; was this something intended?

Yes. We wanted to be more aggressiveon this one. We wanted to be meaner.

We had a chip on our shoulder.

– Most of you have a Death Metal background, so I can’t help but asking you something about the current scene… What are your thoughts on the AUTOPSY’s comeback and the latest MORBID ANGEL album?

I love the new Autopsy heavy as balls. The new Morbid is to be nice, not good!!

I dont listen to alot of Death Metal. Its boring to me . I like Pathology and Benighted thats about it.

– And finally, what are the band’s plans? Will you play some dates supporting the album live?

hell yeah we are going to play out. We have a tour in the works in Europe early next year.

We want to infect as many people as possible.

– That was all, thanks once more for your time. Now feel free to add some final words to the interview.

Thanks a million for interview, look for the Fiend to crawl into your town soon. Peace out!!!
