– Hello, thanks for taking the time. What are you guys currenlty up to?
We just returned back from a short tour with A Storm of Light. We leave for a European tour with The Secret in a few weeks.
– First off, I would like you to start introducing a bit the band for all those who are not familiar with you yet…
Mike Hill-vocals/ guitar’ Andrew Hernandez – drums; Carson James-bass. We’re from New York and have two records out of Relapse Records.
– And what are the main musical influences for TOMBS?
Punk, Black Metal, Swans, Neurosis, Joy Division
– Your latest «Path of Totality» came out some weeks ago, how’s going its feedback?
It seems like the reviews have been pretty good so far.
– Which is the main idea behind this record?
Death, The void, Fear
– And how has the songwriting process for the album?
The writing took place over the course of 2 years or so. It was pretty much the same as every record we’ve done. I think in general, we did a lot more pre-production for Path of Totality. We did a lot of demo recordings and more preparation in general.
– This album has several atmospheric parts, how important is this in your albums?
Execution is probably more important to us. We try to be more precise with each record. Atmosphere is important but not the primary focus.
– The three albums you have released so far have came out through Relapse Records, so I guess you are satisfied with this relationship…
We only have two records out on Relapse. So far the relationship is solid.
– If I’m not mistaken, you toured with MAYHEM some time ago. How was this tour like? What are your memories?
The tour was canceled. Never happened.
– And finally, what are TOMBS’ near-future plans?
We leave for a European tour at the end of July with The Secret.
