VICIOUS BLADE: Unstoppable Fury: The Rise of Relentless Resistance

0

In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, Vicious Blade cuts through the noise with a roar of defiance, and their frontwoman, Clarissa, stands at the forefront of a rebellion against expectations. In this no-holds-barred interview, she opens up about the untamed fury that drives the band’s sound and philosophy. From the unrelenting aggression of their music to pushing back against the narrow confines of gender expectations, Clarissa doesn’t just sing—she rages with a purpose. “I am who I am and I’m always going to do what I love,» she declares, and it’s clear that this raw authenticity fuels Vicious Blade’s fire. With the band’s latest release Relentless Force, they are not just playing extreme music—they’re channeling an unapologetic, empowering message for anyone who’s ever felt silenced. The fight for gender equality, the battle for self-expression, and a fierce refusal to bow to societal norms are woven into every riff and scream. In a genre where aggression often means destruction, Vicious Blade proves that it can be a tool for empowerment and resistance.

-Hi, first off thanks for answering to our questions. How’s everything doing in the lair of Vicious Blade?

Hello, thanks for having me! All is good over here. Just played an awesome punk fest/ skate benefit called Punk In The District in Melbourne, Fl. We had so much fun!

– The title Relentless Force has an air of defiance and resilience. How does this reflect your personal struggles or experiences as individuals and as a band, especially in today’s social climate?

Yes, it definitely represents those things. There were some things going on in my personal life and globally while writing the lyrics for “Relentless Force”. They definitely represent a “never surrender” mentality toward negative shit /people that try to put you down or make you want to give up.

– Your music blends raw thrash with crust punk and other elements. Does this intense mix stem from a place of personal catharsis for you? How does it reflect your worldviews or life philosophy?

I think it is a cohesive blend of everyone’s taste in the band. I think these genres are our niche and the foundation of what inspired this project in the first place. We are totally in our element with this style of music.

– As a female-fronted band in an often male-dominated genre, do you feel there’s an added pressure or expectation to represent a certain image? How do you push back against the stereotypes often imposed on women in extreme music?

I push back against stereotypes by being myself and not giving a fuck about what anyone else thinks. Least of all backwards thinking people and small minds. I am who I am and I’m always going to do what I love.

– Clarissa, your vocal style is notably savage and full of energy. How much of that comes from personal emotions or frustrations? Are there specific societal issues that fuel your performance?

I have a lot of fire inside of me. My favorite way to let it out and express it is through the extreme vocals that I do. There is a balance that has to be mastered when performing and recording. Being overly emotional with your delivery can compromise technique, but you also need to have that intense emotion in order to produce the sound. So it is a balance that I’ve learned to achieve over the years.

– Your band name, Vicious Blade, carries an aggressive tone. What does the “viciousness” in your music symbolize for you personally—does it represent anger, empowerment, or something deeper?

It definitely represents fury, resistance, empowerment, and retribution. Those themes have stayed consistent within our music since day one. I find those themes to fuel our creative drive.

– Extreme music often explores darker themes like violence, death, or chaos. How do you personally connect with these themes, and do you see them as reflecting any inner emotional battles or personal challenges?

I personally connect with those themes on such a deep level. It’s a big reason why I became attracted to extreme music at a very young age. I feel like those things aren’t “nice” or accepted in day to day life. Those are things that most people find “ugly”, and most people choose to avoid, ignore, or struggle with. It all gets shoved back into the shadows. Extreme music gives those concepts a home, and an outlet to be expressed not suppressed.

– In Relentless Force, tracks like “Nocturnal Slaughter” channel raw, intense energy. When writing these songs, what kind of personal emotions or internal states do you draw from, and how do you tap into that level of aggression?

So for “Nocturnal Slaughter” I wrote those lyrics while I was on tour with Castrator. It was winter, and we were driving through lots of scenic, snow covered terrain. It inspired the image of fierce femme fatale wolf hybrids surviving and reigning in the dark, untamed wild. Nature that cannot be tamed by man, and if they dare tried, if they dared to step into the dark… let’s just say they’d be in big trouble  ha-ha. So it had to sound very fierce, aggressive.

– Having members with backgrounds in other notable bands like Castrator, has that collective experience shaped the vision or message of Vicious Blade in a way that’s distinct from your previous projects?

When this project was conceived, the initial idea was to be a Sacrilege worship band. We wanted to play crossover thrash. Our sound has become heavier and more aggressive as we’ve developed. We all have a clear vision of what we want to do and create. We’re making music we love.

– Do you think there’s a parallel between the raw aggression in your music and the ongoing fight for gender equality and representation within the heavy music scene? How does your music contribute to that conversation?

The raw aggression in Vicious Blade comes from the same place it comes from throughout all metal music regardless of gender. The raw aggression we all have inside of us. I think metal is becoming more and more inclusive, and more aggressive as it continues to evolve.

– Considering the chaotic world we live in, what message do you hope fans take away from Relentless Force—not just musically, but also on a deeper, personal level?

We hope Relentless Force makes people feel empowered, resilient, and fearless. Stay true to yourself and never give in.

-And before we wrap this interview up; what are now your near-future plans?

We’re playing the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest and Northwest Terror Fest in 2025. We’re going to shoot a new music video, and then we plan on starting the whole writing process all over again.

-That’s all from our side. Thanks again for answering to these questions. If you’d like to add some final words; it’s your turn.

Thank you so much for your time! Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us and the release of our debut album Relentless Force! We appreciate all of you!
