1- Hello, thanks for answering to our questions. What are you guys currently up to?

Hi my name is Vito, thanks for this interview! Besides shoveling snow, and dealing with a harsh Chicago winter, the band is currently promoting the release of our debut EP titled An Endless Loop. We just finished the final mix/master a couple of weeks ago. We’re really happy with how it came out, and can’t wait for it to be released.

2- First off, could you make some history of the band?

The Kahless Clone is a dark instrumental band from Chicago. I started this project in 2013, to have an outlet for some instrumental songs I had been writing. I was able to team up with some great musicians to help bring my vision to life.

3- How could you describe your sound?

I think the sound is a combination of dark and heavy music, mixed with some ambient atmosphere, and emotionally charged moods. I wanted the music to have aggression, but also keep a chilled out vibe during some parts.

4- What are the band’s main musical influences?

The main musical influences for me right now are This Will Destroy You, Nine Inch Nails, Ghost Brigade, and Chevelle. I also draw influences from books and movies when it comes to song titles, or types of feelings that I want the music to express.

5- How is the feedback for your new album being?

So far the response has been very positive. People have known that I’ve been working on this project for a while, but I don’t think they knew what the music was

going to sound like. It looks like they are digging what they hear, so that makes me feel really good.

6- And are your personally satisfied with the final outcome?

I am extremely satisfied with how this debut EP came out! I am very fortunate to have been able to work with people that really helped me bring this project to life. Everyone’s creative input, the artwork, and the overall sound of the music really came out better than I thought possible.

7- How could you describe this opus in just 3 words?

Dark Instrumental Music.

8- How has the production process for your new release been?

Things have all gone very very smoothly since the beginning. I had the songs fully demoed out before we got into the studio. When the time came to record the songs, everyone knew their parts, and played them perfectly. Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound in Racine, WI did an amazing job capturing the best performance from everyone. He was able to make the songs sound huge, and also capture the mood and atmosphere that they needed.

9- And how do you use to work on the songwriting?

For the songwriting of this EP, I had all the songs demoed out with rough ideas for electronic drums, live drums, and keyboard parts. I was able to work with Zach Libbe for the first time, who programmed the electronic drums and effects. He was really great to work with. He understood what I was going for, and was able to really embellish on those ideas, and create something very awesome. Garry Naples who I also play with in Novembers Doom, recorded the live drums. I knew Garry was the right guy for this project, because he knows exactly what to play for the song. He knows when to lay back and keep a simple groove, or he can grow a third arm and play flashy fills and beats. Andy Bunk from Divinity Compromised recorded the bass tracks. I had no idea what I wanted the bass to sound like for these songs, so I didn’t have anything demoed out. I knew I wanted the bass to be a prominent part of the songs, but I didn’t want it to cross over into that prog realm. Andy came up with a perfect blend of solid grooves, and melodic lines that really shine through on the songs. Ben Johnson, also from Divinity Compromised, recorded the keyboard tracks. Ben always knows what tones and notes to play over anything. He brought a lot of beautiful melodies and atmosphere to the songs.

10 – Finally, what are you near-future plans?

The near-future plans for the band are to play a lot of live shows locally and regionally to help promote this release, and to get onto national tours with bands that we would fit well with. I’d like to get into the studio later this year to record the follow up to this EP as well.

11- That’s all from our side, thanks again for taking your time to answer our questions. If you now want to add some final words; feel free to do it.
